We all need a special place - a glade - in our lives. A place where we can reconnect with ourselves and do the things we enjoy doing. We hope our new wood-fired pizza and baking oven will help transport you to your very own special place.
The Gömsle oven resembles the kind of windswept huts you’ll find in the Swedish mountains. It is built to stand outdoors in all weathers and age with dignity. Indeed it only gets more beautiful with time. For us at Hikki it symbolizes a connection with the present, wherever you are.
The Gömsle oven can reach temperatures of up to 450 degree Celsius in just over half an hour, and baking often takes just a few minutes. Within a short time you can serve your family and friends the pizzas of your dreams, or flatbreads from your very own bakery.
The Gömsle oven. So simple. So good.
Design and materials
A robustly-built baking and pizza oven featuring a handcrafted design by Hikki's founder and artist Per Enoksson. Constructed of corten steel - a heat-resistant material that ages with dignity. The oven itself weighs 65 kilos and will become a permanent fixture in your very own special place.
Delivery and assembly
The Gömsle oven is manufactured in Sweden and delivered in finished sections that are assembled and fastened with wedges. No screws are required. See assembly instructions here. Can be disassembled if needed.
Fire and bake
The Gömsle oven works best when using dry birchwood. Start with kindling wood and slowly add bigger bits of firewood after the fire has started to take hold. In just over 30 minutes the oven can reach a temperature of 450 degree Celsius, although this may vary depending on the outdoor temperature. Soon you will be able to smell freshly cooked pizza, or flatbread such as gaahkoeh, lavash or pita. Serve and enjoy!

How does corten steel age?
Newly made corten steel is gray and shiny. If the corten steel is contained outdoors, it will change color to reddish brown before it darkens even more. It is the effect of rain and moisture that gives the steel its rusty surface and depending on the surrounding conditions, this normally takes about 1-5 weeks. During the first year, while the rust layer is being formed, the product can leave stains of rust on other materials that come into contact with the steel, for example on wood. This can be brushed off with a metal brush. After approximately 1 year will the corten steel hardly emit rust anymore.
