Per Enoksson, artist and product developer, is the founder of the company Hikki. Born and raised in Tärnaby in Västerbottensfjällen. Per who has Sami background, at a young age, learned how to make Sami utensils of different natural materials. Experience that contributed strongly to his career choice later in life.
A dawn business concept
In the mid-1990s, Per made a tent sauna similar to the First Nations in North America uses for ceremonial sauna (Sweat Lodge). Svetthyddan was intended for the mountain cabin and could be easily moved if needed. A worn -out enamel bath was placed next to Svetthyddan. The water was heated by burning directly under the tub and flattened stone pits on the bottom insulated against the heat from below. The experience with both bathtub and sweating gave a unique feeling. The rituals around the bath, the fire and carried nature against bare feet became an important part of the experience. This should experience more! Something that was the basis for an idea to be born several years later - and together with it - the start of the company Hikki.
Wood -made bathtub - the alternative to hot tub
Several years later, during a long and tough mountain hike - when the longing for a bath was greatest - suddenly a product idea arose. Based on the previous experiences with the enamel bath and the sauna, Per saw a new type of hot tub for his interior. Or rather a wood -fired bathtub. Something that had rapid heating was easy to clean and design with care. The role model was the old zinc baths with their beautiful patina and the experience from swimming and fire outdoors. Trying to create something new based on something ancient became the goal of designing and creating sustainable products for swimming, rest and recreation outdoors. The first prototype on a wood -made bathtub came in 2009 and at the launch in 2010 it was given the name Bohemen.
Designing simple, sustainable products with timeless design - which encourages a soothing lifestyle - is the essence of Hikki's concept.
