Most people who look for an outdoor bathtub are tired of the same thing: bulky plastic hot tubs with pumps, chemicals and electricity bills. They want something simpler. Something that actually looks good in a garden.
That is why we built Bohemen. A wood fired outdoor bathtub in aluminium and oak. No electricity needed. No chemicals. You light a fire, wait roughly two hours, and get in.
How a wood fired outdoor bath works
Bohemen has a built-in stainless steel stove at one end of the tub. You fill the tub with water, load the stove with firewood and light it. The fire heats the water directly. No external boiler, no pipes running across the garden, no pump. The water circulates naturally around the stove.
Two hours is enough to bring the water to a comfortable temperature. On a warm summer evening, less. In winter, a bit longer. The waiting is part of it. You tend the fire, watch the steam start to rise, feel the air cool around you. By the time you get in, you have already slowed down. Birch works well as firewood.

Outdoor bathtub or hot tub
There are many ways to soak outdoors. Electric hot tubs do their job well, and wood fired hot tubs have their own charm. But they are still appliances with pumps, filters and running costs. Bohemen is something different. It is closer to a piece of furniture than a machine.
The aluminium body ages well. The oak details weather and grey over the seasons, picking up the texture of the garden around them. There is no motor, no hum, no running costs beyond firewood. Just something quiet that belongs where you put it.
The tub is heavy enough to sit firmly on a flat surface. Filled with water and people it becomes heavier still, so the ground needs to be stable. A stone terrace, compacted gravel or timber decking all work.
Assembly and setup
Bohemen arrives flat-packed and assembles in a few minutes. Each part fits its intended slot and nothing else. The stove goes in first, then the backrest supports, the bottom deck, and the second backrest panel supported by a wooden rod. No specialist tools required.
There are two water connections on the back of the tub. The centre outlet is for draining. The side connection lets you set up water circulation if you want to add a filter or an external heater later. The connection pipes are 30mm outer diameter with a standard ISO G20 (3/4") thread, so you can use off-the-shelf fittings from any plumbing supplier.
Keeping the water clean
For water purification, a filter ball system works better than sand filters. If you want to keep the water warm between uses, a 3 kW electric heater installed by a professional does the job. Alternatively, the tub works with a 36 kW gas heater.
One thing to remember: only use chlorine-free purification. Chlorine discolours aluminium.
Year-round outdoor soaking
An outdoor soaking tub is not just a summer thing. Most of our customers use Bohemen more in the colder months. There is something about sitting in hot water when the air is cold that makes the whole experience sharper. Snow on the ground, steam rising off the water, a fire crackling at your feet. It is the kind of thing people have done in the Nordics for a very long time.
If you are not using the tub, drain the water. A filled tub should not be left unattended, and water should always be emptied after use when there are children around.
What is included
Bohemen comes with everything you need: the aluminium tub body, the stainless steel stove, a flow shield, two chimney pipes, a touch guard, chimney hat, stove lid, two oak backrests with supports, an oak bottom deck, two drain plugs and the bolts to hold it together.
Designed in Sweden. Made to last.
