Why does Bohemen cost more than other two-person tubs?
You pay for the form and the material. Bohemen is drawn to stand in a garden and be looked at, not only used. The form is our own. The tub is aluminium, not plastic, and it is made in small series. The stove sits in the tub and is included, along with the backrests, floor grate, chimney pipes and plugs. If you want the most water for the money, there are cheaper tubs. If you want something other than what everyone else has, this is it.
Why isn't a lid included?
Bohemen comes without a lid. The rain cover is an accessory that keeps leaves and rain out, not an insulated lid. If you want to hold the heat longer between baths, plan for that as an extra. We would rather sell you what you need than what looks good in a bundle.
Why does Bohemen only take two adults and two children?
It is a choice. Less water means less firewood, a shorter wait and a tub two people can carry. If more than four of you bathe often, a large round tub is the right buy, and we say so in the comparison.
Why does Bohemen have no lights, speakers or app?
Because that is the point. Bohemen is fire and water. It needs no electricity, no wifi, nothing to update. It works anywhere there is firewood: on the deck, by the cabin, down at the lake. We built it so you get away from the screen for a while, not bring it into the bath. If you want massage and lighting every evening, a spa is the right choice. Is aluminium cold to sit in?
You sit on oak. The interior, the backrests and the floor grate are oak, and that is what you feel. The aluminium is the tub around you, and when the water is warm, the tub is warm.
Who makes Bohemen?
Hikki is a small company in Tärnaby, in the mountains of Västerbotten, Sweden. Per Enoksson, artist and product developer with Sami roots, designed Bohemen. We make few things, and we make them to stand outside year after year.
Wood-fired hot tubs in the UK compared: Kirami, Royal Tubs, Baltresto, Skargards or Hikki?
It depends on how many will bathe and what you want to pay for. If there are two of you, you want to be able to move the tub and you'd rather not have plastic, Bohemen is the best choice in the table. If there are five or more of you, or you want to pay as little as possible, there are better choices. What do they cost?
Prices differ more than sizes do, and this page is read outside the UK, so the ordering here is based on UK list prices on 9 September 2026 and may differ where you are. Baltresto is the cheapest, priced in euros with the stove and shipping on top. Then Royal Tubs, then the Kirami Tiny, then Bohemen, and dearest is the Regal 190. Bohemen is the dearest two-person tub in the table and sits just under the Regal, which holds seven and includes a lid. What you pay for with Bohemen: the only metal tub, 80 kg where the others are 92 to 190, the stove in the tub, a bath you sit down into, and half the water to heat. About the heat-up times
The figures are each seller's own, measured under their own conditions. Heat-up depends on outdoor temperature, the water's starting temperature, the firewood and the lid. Bohemen's 1.5 hours is for summer. In winter we allow 2.5. Royal Tubs states the same two figures. Kirami states 1 to 2 hours. Baltresto states no time for wood, so the table says not stated rather than a guess.
Electric or gas as an option
Bohemen can be connected to a 3 kW electric heater or a 36 kW gas heater through the connections on the back. Baltresto offers an electric heater as an option. Kirami, Royal Tubs and Skargards give no information on their UK pages.
How to choose
Five or more people bathing often: the Regal 190. Lowest price: Baltresto, with the stove and shipping added, or the Ofuro Off-Grid if you want a complete two-person tub for less. Two people, a tub you can move and a shell that isn't plastic: Bohemen. Bohemen was designed by Per Enoksson in Tärnaby and has featured in Grand Designs Sverige and in Sommar med Ernst. How we made the comparison
Hikki makes Bohemen. The figures for the other tubs are taken from the sellers' own UK pages on 9 September 2026: Kirami Original Tiny, Royal Tubs Ofuro Off-Grid, Baltresto oval for 2 persons (priced in euros, ships to the UK) and Skargards Regal 190 (UK price; dimensions from Skargards' Swedish page for the same tub). The UK "best wood-fired hot tub" guides we found are written by retailers and say they have not tested the tubs, so they are not used as sources. Heat-up times are each seller's own claim. Dry weight means the tub without water. For Bohemen we give the weight with all parts. Dimensions are outer dimensions. Where a figure isn't on the seller's page we say so rather than guess.
