Eldvakt is a heat shield for the Bohemen outdoor bath, designed to increase safety and provide better control when firing.

Eldvakt is a protective steel plate that helps safeguard the frame and surrounding wooden details if something goes wrong - for example, if the stove lid is accidentally left off. In that situation, the airflow can in certain cases reverse, and flames may seek their way back towards the firewood opening. Eldvakt then acts as an additional barrier.

Beyond protection, Eldvakt also serves a practical heat-regulating function: it reduces the heat that would otherwise rise straight upwards and supports a more controlled heat distribution - especially when used together with insulation on the water surface.

Please note: Water surface insulation is not included with Eldvakt. A separate water insulation, Nattsvart, is in development.

Eldvakt is a particularly good addition if you rent out your bath, or for glamping sites and destination properties where many different guests use the bath and routines are not always followed to the letter.

Important information on compatibility (chimney / side)

Eldvakt can only be used with the Bohemen version where the chimney is positioned on the left-hand side when viewed from the front of the bath. This is due to how the opening and fit of Eldvakt are designed in relation to the stove and chimney.

Note: The black version will be back in stock in approximately 3-4 weeks.

“Eldvakt” means “fire watch” - a traditional Swedish term for the person who keeps watch over the fire during cold nights.

Eldvakt - FAQ

Which functions has Eldvakt?

Protects the frame Eldvakt's plate protects the frame against burns. Please note that burns on the wooden frame do not normally occur if you follow the instructions in the quick guide and if you keep the lid on the stove at all times when having a fire in the stove.

The Host's Perspective

Warm Water, Wild Valley, Pure Calm

"Cove Valley guests love sinking into the warm, wood fired water while looking out over the wild valley- it's the simplest, most grounding kind of luxury. Forest bathing and star gazing delight made that much more magical."
— Yolanda Cruwys, Owner, Cove Valley
The Host's Perspective

A ritual lifted by the night sky

"It's a wonderful feeling to lie in these rustic, warm tubs under a clear, starry sky. It really adds to our guests' experience of our sauna ritual."
— Maria Herrey, CEO, ICEHOTEL
The Host's Perspective

Big plus to me is it's a bath and not a tub

"Big plus to me is it's a bath and not a tub, subtle difference I know, but this attracts a different audience."
— Tim Stobbs, Owner, Outfield Farm Cabin
The Host's Perspective

Frequent guest highlight of stay

"We have been using Hikki's Bohemen bathtub for 8 years now, we have also experimented with other designs and Hikki truly leaves them for dead... both in guest ease of use and in maintenance, durability and ergonomics! It is frequently mentioned as a top three highlights of guests' feedback. We love them so much so that we've begun selling them in Australia. Can't recommend the bohemen wood-fired bath enough!"
— Sonny Vrebac, Owner, Bubbletent Australia
The User's Perspective

The Bohemen is a perfect solution

"To be able to lie in a bath under the open sky with the smell and crackle of burning wood immersed in nature is one of life's greatest pleasures. The Bohemen is a perfect solution, with its natural wood seating, eye-catching design and simplicity of use, it sits delicately in our natural environment."
— Guest, Outfield Farm Cabins
The User's Perspective

Beautiful and restful.

"An outdoor tub all year round, what a luxury! Especially cosy to sit with your hat on and enjoy the warm water, and the smell and sound of the fire, which bring calm and harmony in themselves! Easy to clean and empty. And beautiful too! A cover is recommended if you keep it outside all the time."
— Birgitta, Tärnaby
The User's Perspective

Faster Greta is fantastic!

"I had been looking for a good wood-fired oven for a long time, so when I saw Faster Greta I went for it right away. So simple to have the fire separate from the oven, and much easier to keep the heat. We bake pizza, sourdough bread, crispbread and soft flatbread, and there is no reason to do the root vegetables in the indoor kitchen any more. I recommend everyone to buy Faster Greta at once!"
— Niclas Persson, Djurhamn
The User's Perspective

A versatile and useful piece of outdoor furniture

"Faster Greta is a very versatile and useful piece of outdoor furniture, or whatever you should call this much-loved cooking oven. We grill, oven-bake and warm roasts, pizzas, bread, fish, shellfish and vegetables. It keeps us warm on autumn and spring evenings while we cook. You can let it get a surface rust or keep it black with used oil. Superb, in short!"
— Lennart Jonasson, Sollefteå
