What should you consider when choosing a wood-fired bathtub?
Material, size and placement matter most. A bathtub in corten steel or aluminium lasts longer than wood and requires less maintenance. Allow around two hours to heat the water. Place it on a flat, stable surface with free drainage.

A bathtub built to stay outside
Wood-fired bathtubs have existed in the Nordics for generations. The first ones were hollowed-out tree trunks. Then came wooden barrels with metal bands. Now there is Bohemen.
Bohemen is an outdoor bathtub in aluminium and corten steel. It looks like a bathtub, not a barrel. It has an integrated wood-burning stove with chimney and Eldvakt spark guard. Fill with water, light the fire, wait roughly two hours.
Aluminium does not rust. Corten steel develops a natural patina that protects the material and looks better with time. Interior wood in cedar or larch provides insulation and a surface that feels warm against the skin.
No need for electricity, pumps or chemicals for basic use. Change the water after each bath or connect a simple filter system to reuse the same water longer. Drain, rinse, refill.
Designed in Sweden for the Swedish climate. Minus 25 or plus 30. Bohemen stays outside all year round.
